The Sharadin Art Building was expanded into a single, state-of-the-art facility in 2008. The College of Visual and Performing Arts, which includes the Art Education and Crafts, Communication Design and Fine Arts departments, is housed in this visually stunning facility. The Dean of the college is located here.
The building includes spaces for art teaching labs and studios. A main attraction is the Sharadin Art Gallery, where professionally executed solo and group exhibitions of contemporary art in a variant of mediums is presented. An adjoining student gallery gives the opportunity to showcase work during students’ time at KU.
A new entrance and “piazza” function as a meeting place and gateway to campus.
